In the middle of the garden
Centered between the mango and the apple trees
To the right of the rose garden
A few paces away from the yellow hibiscus
Was a white birdbath
Recently painted for the season
It was there that I saw the first reflection of my soul
Far above me were drifting clouds
And under my feet
A pillow like clump of Kentucky blue grass
And when I looked in the still water
In the birth bath
I could see my smiling cheeks and life stained brown eyes
I also could see my past
My present
And the visions that lay ahead
Waiting on me
As if reminding me that
My journey was yet to come
And years would pass before I saw another reflection of my soul
It was while standing on an island surrounded by many lakes
When as if drawn
I venture out in a pier behind this
Simple but homely home
And looking down in the glasslike lake
I saw a deeper reflection of my soul
And I knew then
That though visions were unfolding
There were more yet to come
For alas life’s like that
For when you think you are at the summit of your life
It is then that you are equipped
To pursue even more dreams
And visions will continue to unfold
And you know you will conquer them
One reflection at a time
